‘শুকতারার দিনলিপি’ বি ত এক তরুণীর গল্প, যে আপন মানুষদের কাছেও ভালোভাবে আশ্রয় পায়নি। যতটুকু পেয়েছে, তা অনেক বাজে কথা, বাজে ব্যবহার ও অপমান সহ্য করার বিনিময়ে পাওয়া। একজন মানুষ যখন একা হয়ে যায় তখন অনেক প্রতিক‚লতা তাকে মোকাবিলা করতে হয়, অনেক গঞ্জনা সহ্য করতে হয়। সে যদি দুর্বল হয় তাহলে এসবের মাত্রা আরও বেড়ে যায়। এ গল্পের তরুণীরও এই অবস্থা। সে কোথাও নিজের পায়ের দাঁড়ানোর মতো মাটি খুঁজে পায় না। যেখানেই গেছে সেখানেই তীব্রভাবে প্রত্যাখ্যাত হয়েছে। এমনকি নিজের বাবার হাতে মার খেয়ে তাকে বাড়িও ছাড়তে হয়েছে।
এ গল্পের তরুণীকে আমাদের কাছে অচেনা মনে হবে না। চোখ খোলে আশেপাশে তাকালেই একে দেখা যাবে। আপনজনদের দ্বারা নিগৃহীত হয়ে কত মানুষই তো নিজের অবস্থান হারিয়ে ফেলে। তখন কল্পনাতীত বাস্তবতা এমনভাবে জড়িয়ে ধরে যে, স্বস্তির নিঃশ্বাস ফেলার মতো কোনো সুযোগ পাওয়া যায় না। সৎমার তীর্যক কথাবার্তা, বাবার হাতে মার খাওয়া, স্বামীর ঘরে পাওয়া তীব্র অপমান, কাজ করতে গিয়ে যৌন হেনস্তার মুখোমুখি হওয়া, প্রাক্তন স্বামীর দ্বারা যৌন নির্যাতনের শিকার হওয়া, শেষমেষ অনাত্মীয় আশ্রয়দাতার দ্বারা তাড়িয়ে দেওয়ার আয়োজন- এসব বিষয় তরুণীর জীবনকে বিপর্যস্ত করে দেয়। এগুলোর সাথে লড়াই করেই সে বেঁচে থাকে।
